Jalapeño Poppers - Game Day or Any day of the week!!!
We love Sports in this house, especially Football and Hockey. Football is about to start so we are getting ready by making some fun appetizers. Every week we have a great time making snacks for the games, and we don't want to kill the diet. But the snack has to taste good. So a friend on Instagram shared that she made poppers using smoked Salmon. She didn't have a recipe so we did some mixing and measuring to try to duplicate the dish. Last night we grilled Salmon. So today was a perfect day to make our new favorite appetizer - Smoked Salmon Jalapeño Poppers!!!!

I have been a Browns fan since I was a little kid watching the games with my Grandpa. I think it was a black and white TV... Haha!!! Anyway, that love for the Browns was passed on to Amy... until we moved to New England. Now she loves the Browns, and we cheer for both teams when they play each other. Maybe they someday they will meet up in the Playoffs!!! Yes I'm always dreaming the Browns will go to the playoffs!

How we made these Diet-Friendly
We believe anything can be eaten on a diet. Ok, so you can't eat an entire package of Oreo cookies (trust me, I've tried). As long as you measure everything and eat in moderation, anything can be eaten on a diet. Yes, I still will have Oreo cookies! But the difference now is that when we get them home from the grocery store, we put them in ziplock bags by serving size. That way I don't go overboard and end up having to exercise longer.

Back to what we did on the Smoked Salmon Jalapeño Poppers. Instead of using just cheddar cheese, we added whipped cream cheese. That way, you use less cream cheese, and it really stretches the cheddar cheese. The flavor of the cheddar is there and the cream cheese adds a creamy texture. Oh and don't get me stared on how good the smoked salmon was in the peppers!!!
Smoked Salmon Jalapeño Poppers
For the Smoked Salmon in the Jalapeño Poppers, we used Smoked salmon that was grilled on a Cedar Plank . If you don't want to smoke your own Salmon, you can buy the Smoked Salmon at the store. It's going to taste really good. I still can't believe how good this appetizer is, and it was fun using peppers from our garden. Yes, the tears I'm shedding right now aren't from the spicy Jalapeño Poppers. But these are the last of our peppers this year, and we just discovered these Smoked Salmon Jalapeño Poppers!!!

It's hard to believe 4 ingredients, plus a Jalapeno, can make something this good!! We will definitely be serving these at our next party. They are amazing!!!! And they are fun to have while watching your favorite team, or I would even have these while reading a book. Yes, they are that good!!!

Make sure to add this to your game-day snack list!
TIP:
- Measure all ingredients
- Use Whipped Cream Cheese
- Bake don't Fry the poppers!
- Line a Cookie Sheet with non-stick aluminum foil. Two reasons for this: the peppers won't stick. If you use your cookie sheet to make cookies, the oil from the peppers will make the cookies spicy. Yes, even after you wash the pan, depending on how hot the peppers are, the spice can still be there. We learned this the hard way! Haha!
